1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information — your name, email address, password, and profile photo when you register
• Profile content — your bio, display name, and any additional details you choose to add
• Activity submissions — the type of activity you logged, duration, distance, photos and videos you attach as evidence, and any text descriptions
• Mood check-ins — the daily mood values you submit
• Messages — the content of team chat messages and direct messages you send to other users
• Comments and reactions — likes, comments, and other interactions on the activity feed
• Buddy connections — your buddy requests and accepted connections
• Support requests — anything you submit through our contact form

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — pages you visit, features you use, and timestamps of activity
• Device information — device type, operating system, and browser type
• Push notification tokens — when you enable notifications, we receive a token from Apple or your browser so we can deliver alerts
• Session cookies — used to keep you logged in

Information from third parties

• Payment information — when premium competitions launch, payment details will be processed by Stripe. TacFit does not store your card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Show your activity, points, and team standing within competitions
• Display your name, photo, and submissions to teammates and other competition participants
• Send transactional emails (verification, password resets, competition updates)
• Send push notifications you've opted into
• Verify activity submissions and award points
• Operate team chat and direct messaging
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms
• Improve the app and develop new features
• Respond to support requests

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

• With other TacFit users — your name, profile photo, activity submissions, points, leaderboard position, and chat messages are visible to teammates and other users in shared competitions
• With service providers who help us operate TacFit:
  • SendGrid — to deliver transactional and notification emails
  • Stripe — to process payments for premium competitions (when launched)
  • Google Cloud — to host uploaded photos and videos
  • Giphy — when you select a GIF in chat, requests are made to Giphy's servers
  • Google Maps — to display route maps for activities with location data
• For legal reasons — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TacFit, our users, or others
• In a business transfer — if TacFit is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred to the new owner

4. Photos, Videos, and Camera Access

When you submit activity evidence, you may upload a photo or video. These uploads are stored securely in cloud storage and are visible to:

• You
• Your teammates in the relevant competition
• Other competition participants viewing the activity feed
• TacFit administrators for moderation purposes

You can delete your own activity submissions at any time from within the app.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we use Apple Push Notification service or your browser's notification system to deliver alerts about activity updates, team messages, mission tasks, competition events, and announcements. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the TacFit app's notification preferences.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes. Anonymized aggregate data (such as overall competition statistics) may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information through your profile settings
• Delete your account and personal information by contacting us or using in-app account deletion
• Export a copy of your data by contacting us
• Opt out of non-essential email and push notifications through your account settings
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time

If you are a resident of California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws. We honor those rights as required.

8. Children's Privacy

TacFit is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and secure cloud storage, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

10. International Users

TacFit is operated from the United States. If you use TacFit from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of TacFit after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
